Thinkers’ Model UN Conference -2020
After most parts the world was under enforced lock-down, in the light of COVID-19, Youth Thinkers’ Society (YTS) started to create a number of safe spaces for youth to engage, educate and empower. We organized a number of MUN Workshops and Virtual Model UN Conferences with a vision to engage youth in policy-based dialogue helping them boost their productivity and knowledge about the global affairs. We also opened platforms for youth to enhance their skills. YTS has been keen to provide opportunities for youth to learn, grow and prosper.
With a similar mission of engaging youth in meaningful dialogue, while also fostering cross-cultural exchange, Youth Thinkers’ Society is organizing a two day-online Model UN Conference, “Thinkers’ Model UN”. The conference shall invite 150 young leaders from all across the world. The conference is scheduled for 27th – 28th June 2020 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Nepal Standard Time, GMT+5:45) with 4 agendas and committees through a virtual video-conferencing platform.
A Model United Nations (MUN) is a recreation of the United Nations proceedings, with leaders role-playing representatives of different countries in UN committees like the General Assembly, Security Council, etc. MUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations where young leaders shall be participating in a solution-oriented discussion based on an agenda of global affairs. The purpose of a Model UN is for students to achieve a greater understanding not only of the UN but also of global issues, through an interactive and enjoyable educational experience. It is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to inform and educate youths about civics, diplomacy, leadership, debating skills, and much more. Through rigorous dialogues, discussions and debates, the delegates will have to bring up innovative ideas and solutions addressing the given agenda. The format of discussion will be the UNA-USA Model United Nations.
